Hormozi-Style Captions in DaVinci Resolve
The caption look made popular by business videos: a few big, bold words in the middle of the frame, one of them in color, popping in right as they're spoken. It holds attention on Reels, TikTok and Shorts. Here's how to get it in DaVinci Resolve.

What makes the style
- Big, heavy type: a bold sans serif in capitals, with a dark outline or shadow so it reads on any footage.
- Few words at a time: usually one to three, centered, a little below the middle of the frame.
- One key word in color: yellow or green on white, sometimes a little bigger.
- A quick pop: each group scales in over 2–4 frames, exactly when it's said.
By hand: Text+ in DaVinci Resolve
- Set up one caption. Add a Text+ title, pick a heavy font in capitals, size it big, add a thick outline or shadow and center it slightly below the middle.
- Add the pop. In the Fusion page, keyframe the size from about 85% to 100% over 3 frames.
- Color the key word with a Character Level Styling modifier (see how to highlight key words).
- Save it as a Macro, then duplicate it for every group of 1–3 words and line each one up with the waveform.
In one click: Bigger Subs
Bigger Subs writes the captions on your computer, times every word to the voice, suggests the key words and places everything on your DaVinci Resolve timeline. Several of its styles are built on big, bold type with a key word in color, and you decide how many words show at a time.
- Words at a time and words per line are yours to set: 1, 2, 3 or more.
- Safe margins for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
- Optional sounds that land with the key words.
It works with DaVinci Resolve Free and Studio, on Mac and Windows. It's a one-time $59 purchase, and you can try the full app free for 2 days.
